I’m looking to buy a laptop with a i5 core, good graphic, good for schooling. What i have in mind is the dell 15 with that core…. Do you guys think the cost of it will go down a little by the end of THIS year?

I am very interested in a laptop (HP dv6z), but I am afraid that the processor is too weak. They processor is an AMD Quad-Core A8-3530MX (2.6GHz/1.9GHz). I am a casual gamer and I will start programing soon.

In my opinion the quad-core AMD CPUs are quite fantastic, and gaming performance will depend more on the dedicated (or “discrete”) graphics card in the machine. That CPU should compile code fairly quickly. I use a source-based Linux distribution on a machine with a much weaker CPU and it takes a reasonable amount of time to compile large projects. Some compilers are not optimized for multiple CPU cores though, so you would get better performance on a faster single core or dual core CPU than four cores running at a lower clock speed. I would not worry about this though because the performance you gain in every other aspect will make up for it.

I’m looking for a laptop with a nice display that’ll be used mainly for work and studying but can also deal with HD videos without an issue as well – so I probably won’t need a dedicated graphics chip but I do want a high-res display on a 15″ laptop without breaking the bank. Sandybridge would be a bonus.

Yes you can play many good games with it. I believe you should be able to handle most games pretty well.

im getting a core i3 laptop, asus, and its within my budget, then i saw another laptop with exactly same specs, same graphic card, same ram same everything etc etc.except its core i5. both the one i want and the core i5 i saw was both 2.53 ghz, so whats the difference? how would the core i5 be better?

The i5 processor is better because it was designed for more heavy use, i.e. games and other heavy applications, while the i3 processor is designed for office use. (note: I answered with an i5 laptop)
