Apart from apple laptops which is the best laptop to buy? and which is considered the best laptop brand.
I have no budget.

Dell Inspiron would do good. specially 15R. you can do all kinds of stuff. Otherwise if you can go further then go for Dell XPS. Its the best laptop available this time (overall). Rest you can go to http://www.dell.co.in and customize according to your need.
Sony Vaio demands more then giving.

Lenovo thinkpads are not as stylish as the HPs but they are still very good laptops. They are very solid. The thinkpad would be another option.

HP is the best brand
Apple aren’t the best not by a long shot. Depends very much on what you need it for and what you are good at. The highest performance once i would say are the Alienware which is dell. As for a solid mark:
Asus/Samsung/Toshiba All get my vote. On dell you can actually put together your own alienware based pc i would say spent a thousand on an alienware instead of mac. It will be 10 times faster whatever mac you take because well frankly they are WAY WAY WAY over the top overpriced and the only thing good on a mac is the design on macair and the operating system. Operating system you can install on any pc if you are good enough and is the design worth that much in performance drop ? . At any rate get an alienware or an asus install windows 7 on it and dual boot with Ubuntu. Ubuntu is as solid as any operating system never crashes never fails and it has detailed guides about everything takes awhile to get used to it but in the long run it’s very solid. You can’t game on it but for everyday work it will make a fine replacement for the apple one. Free never the less.
Dell is considered as a best laptop brand among top companies.
Dell Inspiron should be fine for a college student until ur not found of games.
